Ramon has diversions from work that include philanthropic efforts both in his native country of Lebanon, as well as in the United States. In his native country, Mr. Desage has provided much assistance and support in the building of power lines, roads, and public transportation.
Without hesitation, Mr. Desage's diversion from work to offer support for Lebanon has resulted in a better quality of life for many citizens of his home country. Because of these great efforts, Mr. Desage was presented with the Lebanese Cavalry Medal of Honor. It was presented personally to him by the former President of Lebanon, Mr. Elias el Hrawi.Ramon's diversions of his time from work toward helping the underprivileged have been recognized by many world leaders. For example, in 1996 Mr. Desage was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his charitable contributions to a multitude of organizations across the U.S, including establishing many educational scholarships for the underprivileged. He is honored and recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Mr. Desage has also been well recognized by leaders outside of the U.S. and Lebanon. In 1982, the President of Brazil, Mr. Joao Figueiredo presented Mr. Desage with a medal for humanitarianism. These are just a few examples of Ramon Desage's awards for philanthropic endeavors. In addition, to these great honors, Mr. Desage was also named Businessman of the Year in 1999 and was highlighted in the Wall Street Journal during the same year.
